The 26th of January is a good day! With the new regulations, museums and theaters all across the country have announced their upcoming exhibitions we are all looking forward to exploring. The time has finally come again to broaden our perspectives by appreciating art in its many forms, and see how society can come together through the cultural sector. In this week’s post, we would like to share what you can expect from the Kunsthal Rotterdam, the Bonnefanten in Amersfoort and the Maaspodium in Maastricht.
Kunsthal Rotterdam: Studio Calder Now & Deep in Vogue
The Kunsthal Rotterdam has two engaging proposals for you: The Studio Calendar Now lets you approach art with your own hands with Alexander Calders oeuvre as your inspiration. With the help of the All you can Art artists you will not only get the opportunity to learn about the artist’s take on architecture, materials, and senses, but also to craft yourself. The Studio Calder Now takes place every day except Mondays in HALL 3 and welcomes all, regardless of age.
Equally gripping is the Deep in Vogue exhibition. It celebrates the New York based subculture of the queer and transgender community and invites you to be drawn in by beautiful fotography and video material by documentary filmmaker Ottilie Maters. Definitely a unique and relevant collection!

Bonnefanten: Current and Upcoming Exhibitions
The Bonnefanten museum in Maastricht has three diverse exhibitions on display, apart from its continuous rich collections.
- Studio #5
The Studio #5 collection with Antoine Berghs: The artists ‘journey of purification to get a grip on things and the world’ is only one of many unique collections in the Bonnefanten. Key characteristics we suggest you expect are parallel worlds, noise, and flash. But we don’t want to spoil anything! This promising exhibition will be open until March 27th.
2. Beating Around the Bush #7
Beating Around the Bush embodies a fundamental element in art: challenging your perspective. With reference to Vasl Plat, this exhibition is all about painting from different angles and breaking down barriers. Hereby, special attention is paid to solo artists’ take on the matter, such as Hadassah Emmerich, Fons Haagmans, Rik Meijers and Marleen Rothaus.
3. Laure Prouvost: Deep See Blue Surrounding You / Vois Ce Bleu Profond Te Fondre
The Bonnefanten also lets you discover the French and renowned artist’s installations. A central piece to this exhibition is Prouvost’s fictional short film They Parlaient Idéale.
Last but not least, pay a visit to the museumcafé Ipanema, the perfect open space cafe to let all these experiences sink in.

Maaspodium: Theater & Food
Starting January 27, the Maaspodium in Rotterdam will have its doors open for all ages to enjoy free shows, accompanied by food and drinks. Among other things, special activities like talk shows, workshops, and DJ performances make for a very rich schedule.
- Feb 3rd: Met Zonder Ballen
Initiated by Now Talks, an open space for dialogue on contemporary issues such as climate change, racism and gender identity, this theatrical performance resembles a documentary: A gripping story of a trans son and his mother.
2. Feb 4th: Blind Spot (10+)
Up for good (and vegan friendly!) food and intellectual stimulation? The Blind spot thematises technology and its capabilities
3. Feb 6: Soep! (4+)
This visual performance will educate and entertain about the origin of our food. Have a laugh and bring your family a bit earlier, as the 14:00 workshop promises your very own vegan sushi creations.
